I spent seven years as a photographer aboard Crystal Cruises. Forty-eight countries, more sunrises than I can count, and none of them mine to keep — the job was to make other people's extraordinary look effortless, and I was good at it, and it wore a particular kind of tired into me that took a long time to name.
I moved to Marbella to build something that was actually mine. This journal is where I'm writing that down as it happens — not the polished version, the real one. Some entries come from the Archive: photographs and footage from the ship years, the "before." Most come from the Journal: what I'm noticing now, in real time — coffee, the walks with Roa, the work, the slow business of a life that finally belongs to me.
Nothing else. No daily posting, no growth targets, no pressure. Just one honest, beautiful piece — the way you'd tell a friend something true, not the way a brand announces itself.
If you're building your own second chapter, or just wondering whether it's possible to start over without a dramatic story to justify it — I think you'll find something here.
